BREAKING NEWS

INSTAGRAM’S POWERFUL NEW FEATURE COULD CHANGE MENTAL HEALTH FOREVER

THE STORY

Now, Instagram wants to offset that loneliness factor by offering a tool to help users struggling with mental health issues. It’s simple, but it could be effective at acknowledging cries for help and ultimately saving lives.

OUR EXPERT OPINION

“Ultimately, what we’re looking to do is get friends talking with friends, so that people might be more likely to get help if their friends urge them to do so, or their friends might be more likely to give help and be supportive.”

– Dr. John Draper, Project Director for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline

A 375 PERSPECTIVE

“I think it’s phenomenal that Instagram is implementing this new feature. The more people that can be reached and directed to mental health resources, the better. It’s so common to know a friend or family member who may need support but not know what to say, especially in younger people who tend to use social media the most. I hope all social media platforms follow their lead.”
